Diabetic Foot and Treatment
Diabetic foot (or the syndrome of diabetic foot) is a medical term which is used for defining a complex of pathological changes of vessels, nerves and muscular system together with diabetes which can lead to the development of gangrene, considering the affected part of feet. Diabetic foot is a terrible complication of diabetes which is observed in the majority of patients with an insufficient control of glucose in the blood (insufficiency of diabetes treatment). At the same time patients should know and observe some simple rules on taking care of feet which will help prevent the development of gangrene and loss of a limb.The reasons for occurrence of diabetic foot conclude in lapses of blood supply and innervation of feet. Metabolic lapses lead to affecting fine blood vessels and nerves feeding all the tissues including tissues of feet. In view of remoteness from heart, distal part of legs is badly supplied with blood even in healthy people. In the sick with diabetes, diabetic angio- or neuropathy (damage of vessels and nerves) finally violate the nutrition of tissues which soon leads to formation of trophic changes in tissues and considerably increases the risk of gangrene development.
Unfortunately, diabetic foot is one of a most frequent complications considering diabetes. By the general estimations, various forms of diabetic foot develop in 70 % of the sick.
