Varicosity Development and Risks

Legs are covered by non-aesthetic swellings and bruises and a feeling of aching in the evenings - that is how varicosity looks like at the first sight. Aged people are subject to varicosity in a greater degree.

Theoretically varicose veins can develop on any part of the body. It sounds as "swelling" in translation from classic languages. But veins of the lower limbs can be more affected as due to the laws of physics they experience the greatest pressure. This disease is very simply diagnosed, as the symptoms are vivid. Veins inflate non-uniformly, become more darkish. If the disease is left untreated, there is a possible effusion of blood under the skin, and subsequently exulceration of tissues.

So that the blood could flow in the below upwards directions, there are special valves in them. In that case when valves finish working in the proper way, varicosity starts developing. It is sometime connected with the fact that under the constant pressure of blood the vascular channel extends and the valve cannot be blocked completely. In some cases valves are weak from birth and with growth of the body, the pressure increases and they are not able to cope with it. Quite often it is closely related to the job where a person has to stand for long.

Varicose veins can begin during pregnancy carrying when the increased pressure on legs is combined with the change of hormonal background. However, do not confuse varicose veins with spider-like veins. The late is far from being such a serious and dangerous disease.

Tenormin (Atenolol) can be an efficient treatment, assisting to advance puffiness and discomfort induced by varicose veins.
